DELOS’ 1 Year Journey to Be the Leader of the Blue Revolution
Today, exactly one year after DELOS started our ambitious goal to make Indonesia the largest shrimp producer in the world. To become the leader of the blue revolution by equipping farmers with science-based technology and the best end-to-end operational farm management.
This aspiration began when Guntur Mallarangeng, Bobby Indra Gunawan, Aris Noerhadi, and Alexander Farthing presented a multidisciplinary team that combined aquaculture, marine biology, technology, as well as business management as a unit.
The founders of DELOS saw an opportunity for Indonesia as the largest maritime country in the world with a coastline of 95K kilometers. However, this is not equal to the total quantity of existing shrimp exports. Of the total shrimp farms in Indonesia, 75% of them can only contribute 10% of the export quantity.
This is where DELOS started its journey as the leader of the blue revolution for Indonesian aquaculture. Assist and support farmers to increase their shrimp farms’ productivity.
Equip Farmers with Technology
In June 2022, DELOS successfully launched the AquaHero app which has been developed since the end of 2021. This application is a combination of science, technology, and operational management to make it easier for farmers to monitor and increase the productivity of their shrimp farms based on data.
AquaHero uses modern data collection methods and state-of-the-art scientific methods to estimate the treatment required while minimizing risks in shrimp farming. This system has been implemented in shrimp farms that are part of the DELOS ecosystem.
The AquaHero app is still being developed, both in terms of performance, usage procedures, and user interaction. However, farmers can already feel the flexibility in monitoring the condition of their shrimp farms.

Increase Farms Productivity Up to 2X
One year into the process of developing Indonesian aquaculture, DELOS has succeeded to manage up to 195 Ha of intensive and super-intensive shrimp farmlands spread throughout Indonesia. However, there are still hundreds of hectares of other pond areas that require a DELOS touch.
The increase in pond productivity continues to occur as a result of our operational management and the best team we have. Of all the ponds that have been managed, DELOS has succeeded in increasing the productivity of the average yield by up to 2x from the previous one.
Not only that, but DELOS is also able to mitigate potential losses due to disease with a series of tight water quality and shrimp health tests as an early detection system developed in the ponds we manage. In terms of profitability, our management team monitors the operational costs of the pond from day to day, so that the shrimp farming capital spent by the farmers is expected to be more efficient.
Create Competent and Professional Human Resources in Aquaculture
DELOS also focuses on sustainable aquaculture in the future for Indonesia. Efforts to increase the production and productivity of the aquaculture industry must be balanced with the availability of reliable human resources (HR) so that growth is sustainable. One of the biggest challenges, when we develop a fishery business in an area, is the need for human resources who understand and master the needs, diversity, and dynamics of the sector. This is the background for the birth of DELOS Maritime Institute (DMI) as one of the best aquaculture training programs in Indonesia.
DELOS Maritime Institute not only targets final semester students and fresh graduates but also invites farmers and fishermen’s children to participate as participants. The introduction of fishery business (on farms) usually tends to be done in areas close to the sea or the coast which are generally geographically far from urban areas. Areas that are far from the city make it difficult for people living on the coast to get access to quality education. On the other hand, the fishery business has a social responsibility to absorb the majority of the workforce from the community around the business environment so that the benefits are felt by the surrounding community. DELOS wants to facilitate the nation’s children who want to learn directly in the field of aquaculture, especially shrimp farming.
Currently, preparations are underway to welcome DMI Batch 2 which will begin on October 17, 2022. While previously, DMI Batch 1 had been successfully implemented and managed to graduate as many as 13 participants.
Through DELOS Maritime Institute, we hope that all the knowledge and experience gained by the participants during the program can be useful as a provision to enter the fishing industry. In the future, it is hoped that DMI will become a training institution in the field of aquaculture that can be connected to all ponds in Indonesia and is planned to have a Professional Competency Certification.

Continuing the Journey As the Leader of Blue Revolution
DELOS is more than just an aqua-tech company. It is a mission, a deep commitment to helping farmers in their business development, improving their farms’ productivity and the quality of their lives as well as protecting the environment sustainably.
The dream of turning Indonesia into an international shrimp exporting powerhouse is not easy to achieve. However, with well-managed natural and human resources potential, DELOS believes this dream will soon be realized.
Entering a new age, with a firmer step as the leader of the blue revolution, DELOS will continue to strive to realize the shared dream of making Indonesia the largest shrimp producer in the world.
One year of DELOS, let’s lead the blue revolution!
